So, I was going through coins today, and I found a 1990 d quarter. It has NO reeded edge. Attached is a picture of it next to another 1990 d quarter with a reeded edge.

There is no sign of a reeded edge being there, so I cant tell if its worn or a mint error.

Regardless, it's good that I keep an eye out for this type of thing.

I just thought I'd show it. It's pretty interesting.

Edge is worn. A lot. Decades ago, when I lived in the Mojave desert, we called them Vegas quarters. Just wear from thousands of trips through a coin operated device, such as a slot machine.

Time for more coffee.

Your picture clearly shows the worn one is smaller in diameter.

Yes. You're right. It's definitely worn.

I'm going to be a good sport about this. Who knows, maybe I'll come across an error coin someday.

I found one like that a few months ago but the rim was flatter. People make old school rings by banging on them with a spoon over and over to flatten them. Same way as about midway thru this video.

Google is your friend! I see stuff being sold on ebay that is just bogus and people buy. If you do some research you will know what a good error is and what junk is. Good luck!

Probably from a casino, and the edge is worn from using it in the slot machines. And then again, it could just be worn from a lot of use. Keep looking though, the error coins are still out there.
