The parks I detect are flooded and the public schools yards have signs posted saying they are “temporarily closed”. So, I ended up at a park I Haven’t detected at much. I’ve never found much there and I remember there being some MAJOR terraforming there 25 years ago & figured anything old was probably scooped away. Anyway, without many other options I went there last night and right off the bat I dug a Walker! Then 10 minutes later I dug a Rosie!

Funny thing is, when I was pulling into the parking lot there was some woman walking in the driveway and she was blocking me from where I was going to park. Rather than wait for her to get out of the way I decided to just park where I was. I got out of the car and dug the walker about 20 feet from where I parked! If it wasn’t for that lady blocking the drive, I wouldn’t have dug the walker! Thank you ma’am :icon_thumright:

What a beautiful coin! I think those Walkers are one of the prettiest coins out there. I'd be stoked to dig such a thing of beauty. Congratulations to you.

I totally agree here. There are rarer American coins and more valuable ones too, but the walking liberty to me is the most beautiful of our coins. Well, a Saint Gaudens $20 is right there too but they are seldom found while detecting in the ground. Was your lucky day squirrel!

Nice job Squirrel. That is my favorite coin to dig. Looks like that lady was your good luck charm for that split moment. I'm glad she was in your way.

Sweet Find Squirrel! I have yet to experience the thrill of digging a Walking Liberty. All I can say is I want one too. LOL Here's a little history I found.

The Walking Liberty design is one that very few coin collectors will fail to recognize, heralded as one of the best designs to ever grace a US coin. The evocative image of Lady Liberty seemingly gliding across a sunrise landscape is something that is near and dear to every American’s heart. In addition to the coin’s design, the timing of this particular coin’s minting makes it especially valuable. First minted in 1916 and minted up until 1947, this coin was around during some of the most iconic periods of American history.
