Since I've been detecting, over the past year and a half, I've found a number of 18th century and even two 17th century European coins, but my oldest American coin was a large cent from the 1820's.

Yesterday, I found this one. I over-cleaned it (live and learn). I swear there was a point where I could make out the "7" and "8" in "1798," but anyway it's at least 1807.

Thanks for looking.

My oldest is an 1863 IH, my best is a 1899 barber quarter. I have no chance of finding a LC in my area. Unless someone dropped it from their collection in the last few decades!
