I found this today while working in the garden and pretty sure it's a real point. It's obsidian and as far as I know there is none in this part of Idaho.... It was in a raised bed that the previous property owner had made, so there is no telling where the soil came from....I put the quarter in the picture for size comparison.

True, could have come from fill dirt from elsewhere. I don't know what materials were native in Idaho, but I think NW U.S. is known for the best obsidian sources. Many materials traveled a long way and ended up far from it's origin...through trade and such. Very cool find.

The reason I asked is because I was born in Twin Falls. As a kid so used to find all kinds of obsidian arrowheads in the Sawtooth Mountains South of Twin. Sure miss finding those. Especially the ones You can kind of see through when You hold them up to the light.

Thanks!, I live near Kooskia, Idaho....I've never seen obsidian here, but where I lived in Central Oregon it was everywhere.
