Greetings T-Net'ers,

I enjoyed a relaxing day in the woods on Memorial Day. My goal for this hunt was to unearth my 50th silver coin FTY. Seven minutes into this outing I came across a pocket spill with two Buffalo nickels, and a 1920 Merc.

I've never achieved 50 silvers this early in the season before..maybe I have a shot at 100 FTY... After that one find, the next 2 hours were very unproductive. I decided to return to the site that recently produced the William and Mary half penny. Not long into this second hunt, I got a solid signal right up against the base of a tree. It sounded very shallow, so I was quite surprised to see a large copper in the hole

After a well deserved cold beer at home, I was able to do some gentle cleaning on this coin. As near as I can tell, I believe its a very worn William III half penny (1695-1701). It's a little over 8 grams in weight, and measures about 28 mm in diameter.

All in all , a great day of detecting. I hope everyone else was able to enjoy the holiday. HH Scott.

Wow, 50 silvers in less than 6 months is quite a feat!! It’s been a record year for me and I just hit 20 silver coins! Keep going, I hope you get 100!

Nice! That copper may be worn, but it still has some good detail. I would be very happy with that. Congrats!

Thanks to all for the nice comments. Let's hope that the second half of 2020 is as productive as the first.
