Big old brass disc, but your guess is as good as mine.

The circles look like old soldering that has worn down completely. Like something was attached there at one point. Gary

That's sort what I am thinking, too, or maybe the bond wasn't real good and these are the heat marks. Also, there are some definite indications that there was a design on the front, but since it is too flimsy to be a rosette. my guess it is a brooch or pin of some sort.

The little top circle where it looks like something was attached looks like the obverse of a mini KGII... :laughing7: Let's just call it a KGII then.

I'm pretty sure she started out life as a coin, but now she's smooth as a babies bottom! :laughing7:
As the Professor mentioned, we've all found those and it breaks your heart because you just know they're really old.

A coin, ehh ?? .. That would be cool! I will have to investigate that possibility.

Based on it's measurement of 41 millimeters that would make it a huge copper. I think it's more likely a button or broach... the possible attachment marks lend towards that too.

Thanks.. given the size and the two marks on the back, I think it was a brooch.

Funny how I missed the dimensions of your piece in my first post... otherwise that would be one big coin! :laughing7:

I agree, likely a brooch,
Dave
