Well I guess you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.

After my last hunt I had way too much trash with the outcome of a buffalo nickel. So I went back to the drawing board on the type of guy who has
ADD and the larger the field is the the father I will walk and walk and walk. So I decided to tweak up my 800 and stay in a 20 x 20 area and scrub it with my 6 inch coil. It was hard for me because I can’t even metal detecting a straight line but I scrubbed it very slowly and I took my time and I came up with some goodies and not much trash as I would usually get.

My total surprise is this beautiful three ringer that I found at the fort I’ve gone there over 100 times and I never thought I would get a three ring her out of there so this is something special it’s also a lot shorter and sharper at the top and I don’t have one of those so I’m very proud of that. Watch your phone it’s where you found it and I found this one add an 18th-century Fort That has been pounded since the 70s and it’s still produces for me I’m grateful image-2020-06-21-17:22:37-125.jpg

I also had a nickel trifecta a Roche the shield a 191* vehicle and a buffalo. image-2020-06-21-17:38:35-548.jpg

I'd say that was time well spent. Congrats on some nice finds.

I hear you on the ADD part. Anytime I'm hunting with a friend I tend to quickly bounce all over the place looking for the "good spot". Especially at those places that might be a one and done place. Best thing that happen to me this year is having permission at a couple places that I can go to whenever I want. It has taught me to slow down and take my time since I know I'll be able to come again. I'm actually finding more and better things. Who knew!!

Unless there is new construction nearby, I suppose I'm done till November. I have no desire to do beaches this year. Corn and beans are planted and up.

Heather on the same way I feel like I have to take as many plugs as possible like it’s a numbers game which has worked out very good for me but I’m trying to work smarter not harder these days. Never too old to learn

Smoky I don’t blame you it is hot as hell I can’t detect in the sun that’s what makes it so good about the fort because it has huge oak trees and a nice big area with no sun. But as they say down here you can get out the sun, but there’s no way to escape the humidity. It is very heavy down here.

Congrats Dean! Fantastic hunt you had, and I have also profited from slow hunting with the 6" coil.

Well done !

I think a lot of us walk right over good targets all the time.
It's amazing what you find when you really slow down !

It’s different all my life i’ve been stuck on wide-open with everything and New Orleans allows you to be wide-open but just like everything else I have to learn how to slow down which I’m getting better at it. I often wonder all the targets are made of one over because I do know all the trash thar I have dug LOL

Nice job on the Nickel trifecta Truth.

Thanks Trezure That’s only my second shield nickel I’ve ever found it seems like they get eaten up pretty good out here. I’ll ruin my last one trying to clean it and it looked worse than when I found it I have to admit. Sometimes it’s just OK to leave it as it is. IMG_2548.jpg

And can you believe I messed up that Coin trying to get a day off of it I was so green at the time I could kick myself. I totally ruined this coin Glad I took this before picture
