    King George 2nd Farthing

    Hi All,

I was able to get out for hour before work. I went to one of my “old faithful spots” that keeps giving up the goods through many years. I was hunting with Nox 800 and it came in as a 21/22. As you know any time you can at least ID your old coppers, that is a good day!!! I believe it is the “Older Head.” Thanks for looking and Happy hunting to you All !!!!Click image for larger version.

Nice coin find and awesome that you were able to get an ID! Farthings seem to be harder to find than halfpennies, at least here in New England.

Thanks IP on the correction. I was thinking it my be a halfpenny, but it seemed to be smaller then my other KG 2 half pennys, so thought might be a farthing.

Could be counterfeit and a little smaller than usual. Farthings have an entirely different reverse die. If you do a side by side comparison with nice examples of both you should be able to see an obvious difference in the Britannia.

If you’re nice, you might be able to get a date off that one. I’ve only ever seen one farthing dug, 1822 I think, still on my list. Nice job!!

I see what you mean IP definitely not a Farthing. Leaning towards counterfeit now, it is smaller then my other KG2 half pennies. Again thanks for the correction!!!!
