11-11 hunt 1800's farm house
My oldest son actually setup this trip. He did all the leg work himself I was very proud of him. every day we drive past this house and I commented that this house has been around since at least 1875. (It appears on the map we have from this area). I mentioned that it may be a good place to hunt.
So one day while riding his bike he saw the owner (who doesn't live in the area) doing work around the house. He stopped and asked if we could hunt it. He talked to the owner for a while and actually found out a lot of info about the site. He found out where the all the old out building were (most are still there) but he found out that there were some missing and had the owner draw a picture of where they were.......I was so impressed I again rented his own detector to hunt with.
The yard and surrounding area was exceptionally clean. No trash or pulltabs for once, but not much on the beeping end either.
We did end up finding a couple of nice relics, 1 wheat, a few mems. a beat up lead toy soldier, 2 harmonica reeds, part of a lock, something with roses on it, andoval object with a number 2 on the back, an old lead bullet (musket I believe but very small and how old??) and a bunch of old glass lid tops that were smashed except for the one in the picture and the odd thing is this one has a clear glass top I've never dug one of those always white.
Enjoy the pictures....
