ive had fakes marked 14k which will shine after cleaning but after a day will dull or discolor again
    which gold wont do
No discoloring so far a day later.

Many people report that there is an 'East European' connection to whatever scam was being operated.
Thanks Red-Coat. They look a lot shinier and bright then nine but do look very similar otherwise. Do you know what the symbol is supposed to be?

Absolutely. Even if fake it will be quite the conversation piece.

I think it's just a 'pseudo-insignia' of a nondescript type and purposely without any initials... intended to be non-polarising to a potential buyer.

Not liking the odds from the looks of it but if it has been buried deep for a long time, no telling what kind of chemicals/contaminants it has been exposed to.
Silver for instance is well known to usually come out of the ground pristine but I have found some chemically trashed silver.

Silver never comes out of the ground pristine here in FL.

    Nothing does except gold.

I have found change that is worn thin as paper... corroded to bubbly cookie.

Silver comes out black as night... IF been down in salt for awhile... it will be caked.
