I was super excited about this place but the first hunt didn't turn up too much, it was a Hotel of some sort roughly between the 1820s and 1860s and is now an apple orchard. I was out for about 3 hours this morning and here's what I found before my batteries died:

Here's most of the loot... the two small whatsits and the big one are unidentified so any thoughts on those would be appreciated. The button is "Rich Orange Colour" so that's definitely the period I am looking for and the horseshoe may be as well. And OF COURSE, a stinkin zincoln.

The button!

Trash.

I was detecting in tall grass, no pinpointer today so I think I would normally have been more productive, it's also my first time at the site and I am not entirely sure if I am in the right spot but I did see a few brick fragments so I think I am close. Just a little worried it may already have been hunted.

Happy hunting and thanks for looking at my post! Hopefully there will be some old silvers, or big coppers.

Clear all that junk out of the way and youโ€™ll find the good stuff. Itโ€™s a necessary toil but has payed off big with me over the years

Well, 6 more hours of hunting (1 1/2 one day and 4 1/2 the next) turned up some more interesting finds. A visit with the landowner gave me information on the location of the Tavern AND an old house on the property. The finds in the photo are from a little hunting at both, I have them mapped and recorded but can't recall what came from where off the top of my head. I can't wait till they mow the place! The grass is tall right now and I my pinpointer is in the shop so I feel like this site has yet to produce!

Also, the largie is 1820, my oldest yet!

Nope, nothing on the face but it says "Rich Orange Colour" on the back. I found two more fbs yesterday, one of them has no details anywhere (from the tavern) and the other (from the house) says Rich Orange Colour as well I think.

Hunt No. 5 of early-mid 1800s Tavern and House

I finally got my pinpointer back from Garrett! Went out in the morning but headed home as soon as I got a text that my pp arrived. Today's finds (3 hrs and 45 mins of hunting) at the house included 4 flatbuttons, another broken axe head, a pipe stem piece, 1853 LC, 3 spoon handle pieces, a complete horseshoe (I unfortunately broke off a piece) and a small piece of silver plated copper. At the tavern I found the thin piece of metal below the axes in the picture but I only hunted for about 20 minutes there.

Hunt No. 7 of Hunt No. 1 of early-mid 1800s Hotel, now Apple Orchard

Back at the orchard today and here's what I got, not too much for a bit more than 3 hours but I did alright I guess.

Edit: the grey button is actually a pretty old white tombac... late 1700s to early 1800s. So I am very happy with the day even though it was almost an hour between finds!

Grass can really slow down the process of a site. Well done over all, liking the button and your getting some coppers which always great.

Thanks Pepperj, in some places that grass was so tall and thick my coil was a good 1-3 inches above the ground. I expect when I'm able to get closer I'll start finding some of those smaller buttons and things.
