I literally found this creek walking TODAY. I know I should and WILL post in the NA Artifacts forum, but get the most action here anyway Haha! Anyway, I also found an unpictured white quartz notched point and another small white point I have no clue what it is. Anybody have any idea on the big "red" point though? Looks like the back of a "Clovis point" with the point tip broken off. Am I way off base? I'm new to this really and am just excited as can be to have found this stuff. This is the same creek I found my NA pottery I posted as well as many other finds. Lots of NA history on this creek though and plenty more to be found I'm sure! This big red one was just stuck in the mud on the side of the creek, freshly exposed. What a beauty! To me anyway Haha! Thanks for any info and as always I appreciate the support! Stay safe and keep hunting!

MrMarsHill, I know even less about NA artifacts than yourself, but they sure are nice! Congrats on some awesome surface finds, thx for sharing, Ddf.

I reckon a measurement would Have helped for size reference, though I doubt it matters too much and I'd say atleast 1/4" is gone from the tip. Fyi, it's hard to see in pics but the point is 2.25" long and just a hair over .75" at the widest point. Is this older than the notched type I found just a few feet away from the big red one? My mom sent some pics of the notched quartz point I also found today... I'll add a few of those as well. I was just "ON" today I guess. My eyeballing skills are top notch, but my mom has all the luck in the world lol. Not today, lol. She was excited to be there for the finds, and to walk away with an arrowhead of her own either way! It was a d*** good day in the creek... they all are to me lol! 20200729_233031.jpg 20200729_233104.jpg received_296326261576875.jpeg received_2700830176910065.jpeg received_2509221026034865.jpeg

The reddish one is a knife, I can't tell on the little one except it's probably an archaic stemmed point.

Thanks guys! I found the Guilford points after I posted. This looks very similar to the examples I saw.
Smokeythecat, you really think it's a knife?! Broken obviously, but that would just be awesome! Thanks for the input everybody! I think I'm going back to the creek today!

Thanks for the extra info everybody! I had a local guy tell me it's a orthoquartzite Guilford type point. I cant confirm that, but he is a trusted source who knows the area this was found. I havent actually gotten back to the creek yet, but it's at the top of my list! I'll be sure to post any further finds. If any of you guys have a suggestion on something I could add to Identify the material more surely(ie more photos, weight, close ups etc) I'd love to provide that info. It's a beautiful piece that will remain in my lifelong confession to be handed down to my daughter. All I'm looking to do is properly identify and label the find for future reference. All you guys replies are much appreciated! TNet is my favorite site on the web!
