Used evaporust to remove rust. Painted with rustoleum. Found handle at a flea market for $4.00.
Painted the end and used red oak stain and BLO to finish off. B9E08955-42B8-486F-B4E1-5F71504B89C0.jpeg

I have found one of these Hatchet heads before too. Never realized they dated back to the 1860s. Might have to give it some treatment too. Yours look great

Not sure how far back it dates but the house site was on map back then , now just a farm field. I have found very old items there.

I’m still waiting to dig an anvil. That’s my ultimate iron treasure. Already crossed the cast iron kettle from the list.
