I got into a yard today and found a couple of keepers...a nice GAR button, a small Navy button (I’ve never seen one square shaped before, maybe someone can help me with that) also, another old button that I’m not sure if it’s an eagle or a Phoenix or what. A pretty decent 1867 IH with what looks like the faded N on the reverse. The 1881 IH and silver ring I found on a previous hunt. Anyway, thanks for looking y’all and HH, Griff.

Those are some great finds in really nice shape. You might get this a lot, but what is your cleaning and preserving secret? My buttons and IH cents never look that nice. Congrats!

Well it’s mostly the soil here in Michigan. The coppers fair very well. I usually give them a bath in hot peroxide and then scrub them with an old worn out chore boy. Then a little olive oil. Thank you!
