Only had a couple hours this weekend for an early am hunt. There was a spot off the local park trail I wanted to hit. The trail was an old run of railroad tracks at one point hauling coal.

Best find was a solid 16/16 on the Nox near the ruins.

Cleaned up pretty good, heavy brass and what looks like a pin on back.

Here is the rest from the site, a few wheats not shown and the Merc was a surprise.

Does anyone have a good site for researching Pennsylvania Railroad Badges or Railroad police badges in general. Trying to get a date range on it.

Good luck out there!

Wow that is awesome that is some pure history of early America when everything was booming. And it just goes to show you I rarely dig 16โ€™s until now. I truly love the badge. Congratulations

Oh one more thing what was your program set up Iโ€™m just curious

Thx Truth. The old woods are loaded with 14,15 & 16 signals. These are usually bouncy by 1 number and are usually old shotgun shell brass head stamps. The badge was a clean 16/16, should have been 25/25 but hole was loaded with iron. Iโ€™ve been using Beach 1 lately in the woods around old foundations that are heavy with iron signals. I keep all my other settings the same, mid recovery, 5 tones, version 2.0. Everything else stock.

Awesome badge

Those types of finds out number common silver 10 to1 in my book. Its got a nice patina also.

Its definitely older with the straight pin back. I'm guessing late 1800s.

I found a special relic myself a few days ago. Hope to get a post up in the next few days.

Keep at it.

That badge is killer. Never seen lettering like that on the word "POLICE". Very cool.

Yeah my location sounds a lot like that dent square nails and plenty of 14 15 16โ€™s.
