I've been doing this hobby for almost half a century now. I've found corroded zincolns to treasure. But one thing has been consistently true.

This is *the* most interesting hobby !

No matter what I find, or don't find. It *always* has a way to surprise. This last "walk" was just a very nice 3 hour exercise. Not much in finds:

1022200819~2.jpg

Handful of change, bling pin, a new ride, a button.
:dontknow:

Just enough diversity to keep it interesting.

But that wasn't the most interesting thing of the day. It was, what I'd passed off as just some button off someone's jeans.

2020-10-22-08-35-48.jpg

It looks as if it says "I A X". Didn't recognize the brand but everything's new to me anymore. :dontknow:

Interesting, but, not much. After cleaning I noticed something on the reverse. (Button looked sort of glassy or plastic. I remember being a bit surprised it even rang up, figured it must've had a metal backing.)

:icon_scratch:

Hmmmm...."the plot thickens" and "the game's afoot!"

Feel free to comment.

...and...thanks for peeking!

It's a dime? or was a dime? Was it turned into a piece of jewelry or what? Nice "walk" as usual, Sire.

Yep Can't tell if Silver

Does look like Possible 1953

But I Think the P on the Obverse means it was made during the Clad Years

Clad : Mint marks were placed on the reverse of coins until 1968 when they moved to the obverse.

69 P ?

Oh...sorry folks yeah its made on a dime. My pics suck. But its a 2011P.

The reverse "R" on the back seems to be from something put on the back. Maybe a pin?

Sir WIF,

I am guessing it was one of a pair of an enameled dime cufflinks.

Whadi,I have hunted more than 50 years, but I don't get out much any more since I reached 88 years old. IN those 50 years ,what do you believe to be your best find?

Well, of course, you know that "best" find, is just about the hardest thing to define. It depends on how one's tastes have changed over the years.

Is the basis financial? Oldest? Rarest? Most unusual?

Honest answer? I don't know.
But how about something from one of this list?

25 diamond rings the first year I started.
52 flying eagle cents.
A 1727 Schilling?

One of my most favorites is an 1812/1 Half Dollar.

That help any? :icon_scratch:

Nice unusual find Whadi. Glad Jeff and Wannadig could help you ID it. I was scratching my head until I read the posts.

Not quite sure of the ID just yet. Enamled? Possibly. But what's with the initials? And...on a dime? Kinda small for cufflinks? :dontknow:

That's the first one of those dimes I've seen... interesting find indeed.

There is a brand of jeans named โ€œLibertyโ€. Could it be a button?

Well...it was either a button or maybe a pin. But, does that brand use actual dimes?
