Took the boat out for some water hunting today and had my best hunt since my Lizzy sixpence in August. Found the shoe buckle chape piece first. Its definitely not a copper alloy so its either lead pewter or silver but it comes in at a 23 on my Equinox which seems pretty high for a small piece of lead pewter. I still have my doubts though as colonial silver buckles are so rare to find. Ill have to get it tested

Further down the beach I found a Barber dime and later another. Next signal nearby sounded like a silver quarter so I was hoping for the Barber but out popped an 1875 Seated quarter. Career seated #60

Hey toasted I love you but sometimes you make me wanna throw up. I got a Bucket list are for a barber quarter I have the dime and I have the half But can’t seem to find a barber quarter and you showing me a seated Quarter....I’m not worthy

As far as that beautiful Buckle Leather pewter would hit around 17/18 if that thing is silver That would be amazing

Great Finds congratulations! Being a dirt scratcher I can't get over how the water effects silver.

Congrats on the seated.

Can't tell from the picture, but never seen that period chape made in silver, so pretty unlikely. See what the test says...

Thanks. I think your right as Ive since looked at lots of pics of silver buckles and few if any seem to have used this exact style. Weird because it was so common on the iron and copper alloy ones

Toasted, I`ll trade you one of my Barber quarters for a Seated, I found five since last year but can`t locate that darn seated quarter yet!:tongue3:
