Windy but nice day as the surface had dried.
For those that think our finds unbelievable (including us sometimes), this will make you laugh. Our aim on this field is to get at least 1 hammered an outing & we are hoping if we cover enough acres to get 1 Roman Silver (but its looking less likely...) Although our last outing we had just 1 silver & it was a very rare Celtic.:laughing7:
Just over 2 hours into the hunt, I heard Cru'dad call out ''Come on Hammered'', & very shortly afterwards I heard a lot of laughter, so I knew without asking that he had found a hammered. But not only was it the next signal he heard, it was not much more than a swing after he shouted it. Beating my coin whispering record in 2011, when I called up a Roman Silver (back in the days when we didn't find so many):

Sometimes we try & guess what we are going to get for the day, but hardly ever do we make that kind of call out. (so it's not like we are shouting it out all the time)
5 Hours gridding:

9 Scrappies
Tudor Button
Silver Horse Shoe (from a tie pin?)
17th C Lead Cap for a gun powder flask
19th C Barrel Tap Handle (type I've never seen)
19th C Bayonet Scabbard Hook (most complete one I've found, still has some leather)
2.5 Lead Tokens
Blank Silver Sixpence
Scarce issue: 1430-31 Henry VI Penny - Durham Mint of Bishop Langley. (our first first Durham mint of Henry VI, I knew it was unusual when I saw the Star left of Crown):icon_thumright::icon_thumright:

Almost seems biblical...calling something into existence...a Lazarus come forth...but a rare coin show yourself instead. :) Fascinating rare find!

Yes, interesting it was an ''ecclesiastical issue'' that are a much rarer type of hammered that we find, at least 95% of what we find are Royal (King or Queen) by issue.
