Started with a Minelab xterra 505. Then Equinox 600 with stock coil, xl coil and sinper coil depending on circumstances. Now use a manticore.

1st target on a short hunt/ hike with girlfriend and her dog. My girlfriend gets bored quickly so I didn't dig that many holes. Little piece of costume jewelry and the umbrella end was a nice add on. Area has activity going back to 1682. Found the union Pacific token, silver rosie, weather vane south marker, a horseshoe token, a few old wheats, a lift arm lighter top and an 1838 large cent here in the last few months.

Lol guys. She actually likes the relics just not the process of finding them and all the beeping. However, we can sea glass hunt together or dig an old dump and she likes that. no rings yet... but I've only been doing this since April. She does like the brass washers I find and wants her own skeleton key. Any ideas on that spoon?

a few more views of it would help get an idea of what it's for. :icon_thumright:

Here are more photos. No hope for trying to straighten it. It has a few cracks in the handle and would surely break. Was on its side and thought it was just a piece of old copper until I saw the bowl.

I'd put the spoon date mid 19th century, give or take a decade or so. Go back and get all the gold coins!

Words of advice..put the girlfriend and dog in the trunk of the car next time metal detecting. When done with next adventure see who's happy to see you...that's your metal detecting partner for life!:laughing7:

I'll bet your girlfriend would be more interested if that piece of costume jewelry was a gold ring with diamonds ! I know how you feel. My wife was the same way. Now she doesn't even go with me, but still likes to see my finds when I get home.

It's definitely the smallest spoon I've dug and the oldest complete one. It's been a good year for spoons, lipstick tubes, drawer pulls and tokens. I'm pretending I'm working Friday so I can get a day back at this location uninhibited and check out another near by...
