EARLY HAPPY THANKSGIVING FOR ME! After photo's of cannonball and Bayonet

Hi everyone,

I just thought I would post the finished product of the Bayonet and 12 lb Cannon Ball solid shot. They really came out great. ;D

I went out this morning to do a little relic hunting and to my amazement I pulled up a Civil War Napoleon 12 Pound solid shot cannon ball. :o :o Funny I should find this today because I went relic hunting the other day with Whippetdog and played a little joke on him by burying a piece of shrapnel to look like a whole cannon ball. :'( Then called him over to dig it. :'( :'( Wish he could had been out today to see this. ;D I cleaned it up a bit but will surely post it again when its finished. Thanks for looking and have a great Thanksgiving this week everyone!! ;D :D :o

Whippietdog took it all in good stride. I am waiting now for him to return the favor. Here is a photo of the 1/2 shell from the otherday cleaned next to todays find.

Re: EARLY HAPPY THANKSGIVING FOR ME!!!!!!

nice find, now tell me you know what you are doing, banging on it with a hammer, is the fuse still in it or is it a solid shot? i have one with the fuse intact
it is going to the woods soon, gonna do a remote drill on it, so if you hear a bang, thats me-lol everything i have read on these shots says they can explode even while being drilled.... take care
we are in the process of hunting a civil war raid, so far couple bullets, one fired and a small buckle found by my partner, and with a cheap china detector, i may take it away from her and give her the tesoro

Hi,
Please don't try to disarm it on your own. The one I had today is a solid shot and tapping it with a hammer would cause no harm. I have had 7 loaded shells that were potentially dangerous and had a friend that has the proper equipment disarm them. You can really get hurt if you do it and something goes wrong. I man in GA lost his hand and eye trying to drill one. To boot his col letion was confiscated and also charges were brought up. I pay 35 a piece to have them disarmed and it is money WELL spent. If you need any contact info PM me and I will send you the mans info. Hope this helps and best of luck.
