Got out to some different sites this weekend...

At one there weren't many big signals, but I did manage a fired musket ball, a convex coat-size button and four small cuff buttons. One was a tombac but the best was an early U. S. Navy cuff. I located the coat-size of this design in Albert's, but not my 16mm version. Based on the 16 stars, it would seem to fall between 1796 and 1803. I did find a USA button (with mbcuce) not too long ago, but I just don't find many military buttons. I was very excited to find this one.

And, a brass tack.

Another site produce one bale seal that does not seem especially old.

And, today I found two musket ball-type fishing weights and one cuff button with a textile-like texture on the obverse and stars on the reverse. I'm guessing it's mid 19th century - not sure. The circular brass piece with the hole in the center has threads on the other side. It looks like it would have threaded into a piece of tube. There's a small off-center hole that's hard to see because of the shadow. Now, I'm wondering if it could have been some kind of eye piece. I think the small hole would have been used to turn the piece to screw it into whatever it went into it. Any ideas?

Thanks for looking.

Backmark is "Carter / Lombard Street." Albert's says they were in business in London in the 1790's. Fits in with the war of 1812 buttons found on the site.
