Found today, can't quite believe it, i've narrowed it down to 3 kings but I'd like to narrow it down further if possible.

It's a bit bent but still what a find.

Any help appreciated Steve 20201129_130449.jpg 20201129_130437.jpg

Firstly what size is it? Diameter? A Noble would be amazing, we have had 1 half Noble, & only 2 Qrter Nobles

A gold smith would be able to straighten that easily, its a high grade karat, don't try yourself.

Hello Crusader, it's 32mm in diameter...I would never try to straighten it myself..do you think it's worth straightening?

It is a NOBLE:occasion14: (Who ever it is, my banner votes in already, as it makes no difference other than value)

100%. A good metal worker of any description (ie. silver-smith) only needs to heat it a little. The work is easy & should be cheap. I paid £60 for my Half Noble. But even if you spent £100 its going to be worth in the ball-park of £2000.
I can't ID it as the start of the Kings name is under the folded bit. An expert could still stylistically ID but not me.

Please do.
There is 1 other possibility, as we were one of the leading trading powers at the time, the Dutch made copies of these type of coins & put slightly less gold in them to turn a profit when trading with other Counties (including our own, if we didn't spot them). If its one of these its interesting but less valuable as a proper English version. Time will tell....

Wish it worked like that!
This is one of those that falls in the bracket of 'once in a lifetime'. Although there are those that have been hit by lightning more than once.

I haven’t got access to my coin books but I believe the e in the cross on the reverse would suggest Edward the 3rd third coinage or later. I’m not sure if Edward the 4th can be eliminated or not without checking..

I saw the 'E', just wasn't sure whether it was the first letter of the King. If so that does narrow it. I'm guessing Edward III more likely, if the 4th then big money...

Yep, I believe that when they have a letter it’s the king’s initial. As I say though I haven’t double checked.
