Was able to get to a local park here in White Plains, for a quick one-hour hunt, and came up with a token from the 1930's, some clad, and a security badge. Found the following info on the token: "Oldetyme Distillers, Inc. of New York City initially distributed Green River Whiskey tokens in the mid-30's. The tokens were used as a form of cheap advertised in magazines for magicians, and thus are called "Magic Tokens," and others were probably used as "point of sales" items in liquor stores. There are perhaps as many as twenty different die varieties of the specimens known to exist. That is, there are several artistic changes on the pieces, although the basic images and brand logos are essentially alike. It is difficult to identify the differences with language alone, and pictures are necessary to show the differences. Some of the token varieties are a little more available than others. They all are worth something, but -- in the main -- are not worth a whole lot. The tokens are all made of the same metal composition - brass."

Thank you all for looking!:notworthy: It was such a beautiful day today, and I was on the pity pot, worried about this and that. I told Kate I was going up to Battle Hill for an hour and I was going to put my phone on Airplane Mode. Visited with my therapist, Dr. M. Vanquish, Suite 540, for an hour. Came out of his office feeling much, much better!

Thank you all for sharing this addiction we call metal detecting!:headbang:You Rock!:hello2:

Nice finds. I wonder if that whiskey was the impetus for the Credence song. The badge is awesome!! :icon_thumright:

Nice finds Terry. I like that token and badge.

Interesting find on the badge. It was my only good find in a place I was "sure" I would pop old silver. Layers of landfill. Awful. Just the big trees and roots out to about 10-feet from the base was undisturbed. The badge sounded like a Budweiser can - LOL! Thanks for looking!:headbang:

Great recoveries Terry! I really love that old badge and the Green River token. Those types of "trade stimulaters" have always been tops on my list to find.

Stay safe & keep digging those beer can signals.

WTG Terry - tokens are always fun to recover and do the research on their origins. Little slices of the historical record.
