Weather has warmed up a bit, so no need to start on frozen ground.
We are sticking to the same strategy:
About 3 hours in the morning of The Potato Field & about 2 Hours on the Sewage Site.
Each time we are gridding another small chunk off each field in the hope that we are moving towards a better find. If not, we are getting a slow & steady start to the year...

The Potato Field:
Jetton
18/19th C Fob Seal bit..
14th C Buckle
Medieval Thimble
Military Shoulder 'Pip'
Qrter Hammered Short Cross (Cru'dad got on it our way to the starting point) - Looks like we are following last years trend of having 1 Silver day off & then back on it...:laughing7: Not sure it can last...

Sewage Site:
3 Scrappies
Neolithic Flint8-)
Medieval Casket Key

William IV Trade Weight on the Winter Stubble Field. We cross this to get back to the car from the Sewage Site.

What a beautiful knapped tool! Absolutely like the translucent flint. The soil wasn't kind to the buckle and to the casket key... The shoulder pip looks like WWII German.

Well done on the tiny cut silver, though the knapped piece is really a nice find.
Query: How many Cartwheels do you get in a season?

Yeah, these group of fields seem to be high in flint pieces. I don't keep all the wasters & broken bits, but saw about 4 today.
Thanks for the ID, I thought WWII, never thought German! It seems to be aluminum?

All i dug were. But finds here are 95% late war. Might be possible to have pre war brass ones. Air Force always had everything in aluminum. Just because i guess.

I too am interested in the flint piece just posted, as well as one I saw a few days ago. I'd love to see a thread with some of your flint posted together. I used to knap flint and your pieces are making me drool. Gary

Did you have them dated? Some look really old. I wouldnt wonder if they are pre neolithic.
I'm really no good with these, so they could be.....

Nice hunt, especially the flint. That's a different find for you even though you have found others before. :occasion14:
