Yesterday was my birthday so I really wanted to get onto some good finds! I went back to the yard where I found the 1759 counter stamped 2 Sols last Friday. Someone on another group Identified the counter-stamp as being from the colony of Tobago which i thought was really cool. I was really excited to see what else I could find. Park 1 all metal mode on the nox and I got a scratchy 13 just a few feet from where I found the 2 Sols. Popped out the plug and the signal got louder, there it was, another coin with the same stamp on it! AWESOME! So glad I didn’t let this one get away. It turns out that this coin, which is the same size as the 2 Sols, is a Stampee of 1765. Minted in France , strictly for use in the West Indies, this coin has only a crowned C on one side and is blank in the other. A much more rare find than the last coin and the fact that there was two coins with the same stamp that traveled all the way from Tobago in the south Caribbean to Cape Cod, Ma to be lost together in the same yard just blows my mind! I love this Hobby! A0676879-52C5-4F30-9879-2528D2B247FE.jpg 8C28A8B1-6D21-4F6B-B08F-8ED3C4068621.jpg

Wow! The history behind those is pretty cool! I found a coin once with a stamp of sorts but I don't think it counts so a counterstamped coin is still on my bucketlist!

That's cool. Definitely makes finds more interesting when they have a story behind it.

Nice finds! The counter stamp really adds character the coin.

Counterstamped coins are among some of my favourite finds. Finding ones that can be associated with known or attributed makers or issuers is a definite bonus. Many c/s are undocumented and widely known as maverick stamps.
Its great you found some that could be attributed, well done!

Pretty cool coins. Your little buckle is an 18th century breeches buckle/
