Hi All --- Here is a bit of information regarding the North Georgia Area Line of March for the Federal Army Sherman was actually a civil engineering student major at West Point During his SR year he mapped Georgia as part of his studies. That is one of the reasons he was able to center his line of march from TN to the Georgia coast when he took command of the Army
He mapped what is now I 75 to what is now I 16 , He sent his flanking wings out on what is now I 20 east and west out of Atlanta. That is one of the main reasons that his line of march followed these routes he had mapped as a student

I have the luck to have studied some of his works when I lived close to West Point so when I moved to GA I think I had some insite

My friend owns family property that borders on the Battle Field which actually pushed down to the Ringgold Ga area On his side of the property line was a hospital which during the conflict was actually used by both sides as the lines changed ( similar to the one in SW Atlanta and Kennesaw )

Inside his property line was a rock wall This was recovered there between the rocks ( i have posted the pic before on a rock wall post )

So the area is getting played out since there is so much development in that area

Follow the hunt !!!!!

Here is a clue for any North Ga hunters --- when you see the land being plowed up or graded for another strip mall Check those piles of dirt ! IMG_0059.JPG

BuckleBoy Steve Sylvia has emailed me back and forth. I sent him some more pictures and he is in contact with someone in KY that is getting some info as well. He did tell me that the Kentucky Military Academy opened in 1847 and was the only year that it was open. He did not go into what happened to it or if it merged with another school. He did also say that it had the correct loops for period. Still waiting on info from O'Donnell. If you have a good contact, could you PM it to me.

Kemper Military Academy in Missouri. Formally Kemper Military School until 1890's then KMA. Kemper was called the "West Point of the West." Just my 2-cents. Gary
