As someone who lives and detects in Massachusetts, I think that is one fantastic find. How interesting that this little old suspender buckle traveled all the way across the country...its owner no doubt planning to hit it rich in the California gold fields. Thanks for posting.

Hendo you will have to open a gold rush museum pretty soon at this rate. I agree with Silvermonkey. As a Bay Stater, it is very cool to see a bit of our local history associated with the California gold rush.

Surprisingly these Mass. State Seal buckles have popped up in several Gold Rush camps across the state. I know a handful have been posted on here before. It is very cool to think that these traveled so far. The stories they could tell! I’m hoping this same fellow maybe had a lucky state copper in his pocket that fell out. One can dream, right??

According to my wife I already have a gold rush museum that is taking over our den, kitchen, and hallway, and back porch, and front porch, and the garage, and the trunk of the car....lol

go out and dig something
I think that's cool to, I like digging those small buckles, and when you can find one with embossing on them

As a Mass hunter, I'd love to know the history of that piece trekking its way across the country- very cool!
