The ground thawed a bit in the last couple of days so I hit an old field I have hit several times.
Just a lead bail seal.

What exactly are these, how old are they, and are they collectible?
I have quite a few from this field.
Is there a way to identify them?

Some you can identify..most you can't. Some are more collectable than others.

Firstly the term bail or bag seal is a little generic until you pin down its actually use. Those types of lead seal went on bags/bails.
Your Seal has
P Co - Suggesting a Company starting with a P.
ID the company, helps with its use. For example, if it were an electrical company it would seal electrical boxes, if it were a Train company, it would seal box cars etc...

So at this point of the process you have a 'Lead Seal' until it's function is worked out.

One ID you can rule out is a Cloth Seal, that sealed bundles of cloth, as they are a different style.

PS. everything is collectable, but these don't have much value

Nice find! It's good to see someone else from NE Ohio getting out there and digging!

Yes, the ground is just now starting to thaw and the majority of the field I searched was good.
I had one quarter signal with the AT Pro but had to bypass due to that part of the area still frozen. Should be good after this week though.
