Hey guys I can finally put something on the board. My fort site has come to a end The last couple of trips we’re all blanks I am between the drive I’m Bridge Toll it’s beginning to be non-productive. It has produced more for me than I would’ve ever imagined but I have to move on to greener pastures closer to my house. My tail was built in 1832 so what is produced a lot of Spanish Silver for me so I’m back scouting lame. I bought a book on Amazon on my town in Covington Louisiana it’s perfect for me I don’t like reading on with my ADD but this one has plenty of photos and small captions which are right up my alley. So I went to drive around to some of the streets the book was talking about and they had a house that was torn down what’s sale pending. I actually spoke with the guy who owned the house years ago by chance and he’s been detecting fr 40 years, so that being said I felt comfortable Metal Detecting the lot. What I have going against me was I’m sure detected his yard many times so I thought maybe I would have to go deeper than him so I left the big coil on from a prior hunt and I soon found out that there was trash everywhere. But I didn’t feel like changing it out so I just swinging and found a bent up 925 ring. So hat kept me in the game a little longer. Well between the roofing nails and tiny bits of aluminum and everything else that comes with a tear down I got a 12-13 hitting between all the other VDI’s’s at 3 inches so not expecting much I thought possible Jefferson nickel if anything and boy was I wrong. It was this beautiful gold guilted Cauvery cuff button I was in shock. Now I’m not sure if he dropped it or it’s been there because it’s a old town, but now she’s with me and she’s all mine LOL any tips on cleaning let me know.
Thanks for looking [emoji631]

That was the beauty part It was in a small section that was sandy for some reason.

I got a chance to do some digs with a club out of Baton Rouge when I was stationed at NSA NOLA in the late 90s. Did a club dig one time at the foot of the Sunshine bridge. Could have sworn I was digging in peanut butter. Most of the cane fields were dryer but not much better.

Dug I’ll admit I’m jealous when I see these guys on videos making nice plugs with 1 foot, this Louisiana mud is slick when it rains, hard when it’s cold and HELL when it’s hot.

Truth,

Great hunt and great amount of gold gilt still on the button. You may want to look into books on tape if you don’t enjoy reading. I find I can get through a number of books just during my normal driving. Good luck with your hunts. Walt
