One Cent backwards
I have no idea how it happend

Hey 8Reals, a few months ago I found some lead that someone had pressed a large cent into, and therefore the words "ONE CENT" were backwards in the lead. (In the picture you can clearly see a backward E, and some of the other letters are somewhat visible).

I know that's not the same as what you found, since you found what looks like a coin with the letters backward. But maybe someone was playing around with metal (maybe counterfeiting) in a way that is similar to the person who played around with the lead I found.
Anyway, I hope this gives you some ideas - even though it doesn't offer a direct answer.

I think the original coin a British half penny because it rings lower than a US large cent
And some playing with coins stamped the back of a largie into it.
