Colonial buckle?

Hello, all. I found this on a new permission. The house dates from the early 1700s but this was only about 6inches deep so I’m suspicious that it is not as old as colonial. The rosette was found close by. All coins are modern, the oldest being 1947.

It's a ladies sash buckle.
What gives it away is it's construction & design.
