Welcome to Tnet

I don't think you'll ever see a George I farthing struck as off-centre as that! All I can make out is a straight line at the right which looks like the edge of a shield, and what appears to be a non-British crown above it. That would create multiple continental possibilities which are difficult to narrow down without some more detail.

Here a a few off stuck examples of George I coppers. And then another 1718 for comparison.

I stand corrected. Thanks. Turning your picture round, I now see that what looked like the edge of a shield is the base of a George I head profile.

George I.jpg

Never seen one as off-centre as that before, but it seems they do exist.

Now the real question is, do you think it's worth much in this Condition? He doesn't want to sell it but would like to know?

Yes, I saw the mouth line & the nose when i clicked the picture. The site loads pics sideways which just makes it more confusing.

Sadly not. The extreme off-centre strike might attract the interest of someone who collects minting errors but not to a degree that makes it valuable in that condition.
