Been awhile

Been over a year since I’ve been out detecting and finally got out to a friends 12 acre plot in the woods near the Potomac river. I expected a lot of modern lead and shotgun shell caps and of course I did find those. What I didn’t expect was for my first good signal to be an 18k gold wedding band. Found right near a little creek, out in the middle of nowhere. Not sure what the green band is around it but the makers mark is a crown and 18 under it. Only other interesting finds for the day was a dropped three ringer bullet, a silvered pewter decorative thing, and a flat button. The gold made my day though.

I hope it is solid but from the pic it looks plated. I found an ring marked 18k last year that didn’t have any plating left on it.

Not plated, it just has a secondary outer ring of some material. The gold that is visible is perfect and the whole thing has about the same weight as my wedding ring.
