We have no-where left to do that we know of.
However, talking to the owner of our newest permission he stated that he had 3 other fields some distance from his farm that a detectorist stated he found a Roman Villa on. Villa is a very misused word, so I never take that at face value, more likely a farmstead (until proved otherwise). However, the story was that he hasn't returned in years but had found 2 Roman Silver. Cru'dad looked at the Archeological records for those fields & I checked out the Aerials. Both looked promising. Today we just wanted to find the fields, look at parking spots, check out the lay of the land, & see if there was any failed areas of oilseed rape.
Each field had cropmarks, first had a large linear 'settlement' of at least 180m, second a small possible Iron Age enclosure, the third was the so called Villa area which we will call the 'T Shaped Field'. It's cropmark looked like a pretty good one with trackways splitting off around a complex of enclosures. Bits of it looked Iron Age (which the Archies guessed)/Roman (which we thought). I hope it's both but at least today we confirmed the Roman activity with 2 4th C Roman Coins.
We only did 1 hour on a small grass margin on the edge of the field, only slightly bigger than a car width. (However it did cross throw the cropmarks, as this complex goes into the neighbours field)
It should be ready to detect in about 2 weeks, so excited about these fields.

Got to love it when a plan comes together.
Best of luck on the site after the harvest happens.

Great to find a new field with the chance to be a good one. I wish you luck to find it not very well detected but worth to do it!

Cheers for the comments.
Other detectorist never put us off because we know after 10 years of our own methodical efforts we still finds coins, so why would 1 detectorist stating he found a Villa in only one of the 2nd most promising fields be an issue.
Our focus this year will be these 3 fields;
T shaped to start with - it's out of view.
The 180m settlement which I think will have the most finds but close to the road that people can see.
The smaller 30-40m enclosure than might be Iron Age/Roman.
Plot all of their scatter this year & focus in next year on those scatter targets.

I'm excited for you Cru'
I've got a visual from "The Detectorists" where lurking just beneath the ground where you were scouting lies a valuable treasure... :)

It is exciting for a couple of reasons;
We have bleed most of our good sites dry (or close to it) - Nice to start the process on a fresh site.
We are a fair drive outside of our usual stomping grounds which we hope means a slightly different group of coins & finds. ''IF'' we get any Celtic coins we hope they are of a Tribe we don't have or at least a type we don't have. (That to me is the most exciting possibility)

Have given it any though about gaining a permission there also?

(simple answer, yes all in good time)
At this stage we are so far out of our usual farmers network, we have no idea who owns it.
However, I live in hope that the more we detect this boundary, the more likely a nosey neighbour will come check us out.
At this stage the most important thing is to focus on what we have & use this GPS mapped evidence as to why it is important that we expand our efforts.
Of course the neighbour might have their own detectorist, so 1 step at a time.
