Greetings T-Net Nation! I came across these military pins on a hunt yesterday. They both came out of the same hole on a property that dates back to the mid 1800's

The rest of my trip was less productive, but did manage a 1901 IHP and a toasty V Nickel

If anyone is familiar with these two pins, and could provide any information, I'd appreciate it.

Good hunting to all!

Scott

Congrats on the GAR pin ... very interesting find. I found and posted a Women's Relief Corps medal earlier this year, which incorporated the GAR medallion into its design. From what I found online, the medallion has five outstanding figures, including the Statue (or figure) of Liberty, a soldier, a boy, a woman, and a child, and the American Flag. The soldier symbolizes fraternity, the boy is emblematic of the youth and strength of the future life of the Nation, the woman is emblematic of motherhood, the very source of all civilization throughout the world, and the child is emblematic of the hope of the world. (This is a copy/paste that I trimmed down a bit.) Anyway, very nice find.
