Can you help to identify the makers mark. Its either an M or a W? Or even what it could be from? It?s on the thicker side and flat, but does have a bevel on the edge under the metal ring. It does not appear to be corrective at all either.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe a gauge cover?

Is it threaded on the outer edge?Perhaps the piece that holds the lens in place in the objective of a binocular or telescope,or on a gauge as Tpmetal said.

No threads on the outer edge, but gauge glass might be a good call

one possibility is the glass from a 'moto-meter' thermometer radiator cap from an antique car, but I still lean more towards a meter or gauge
