A first!!! Gold coin!! 1870-S :)

this 1870-S $2.50 gold coin was inside of an old ladies compact!! I found the compact, and my son found the coin while cleaning out the compact for me. so I consider it both our find!! jd

JD,I have my 2004 coin guide in my office and that 1870-s Cornet/Eagle starts at $160.00 F. Thats one nice coin.

Great find, beautiful coin in great condition. That's really cool. I opened up a compact yesterday and found a coin in it. I'm still looking for my first gold coin. I'll find it it's just a matter of time. Thanks for the post. Glad to see that it is really out there.
