Smokey and I got out again yesterday, we were heading for an old school/church/community building but it was occupied all day :(. Another co-worker of ours directed us to an old swimming hole, so we gave that a shot.

The ground was still pretty much frozen but yielded a few clads. I ended up with 1 quarter, and 10 memorials.

Just before we left though I got another signal and dug it, I then proceeded to chase this little bugger around about an 18" circle for a couple minutes and Smokey pinpointed it in the loose dirt I dug up.

I can't determine what the "800" stamped inside means, or the type of stone for sure. The stone is opaque and the closest match we found so far on the web is a Mexican Fire Opal.

Is the metal silver???

I've never seen too many posted with "800" but I have one too. From what I found on the net, there is an "800" silver.

My understanding is that ".800" refers to 80% pure silver...just as ".925" = 92.5% pure. I'm told that the 80% is widely used by crafters, Native American & Mexican artisans.

The above from memory...as such, subject to be... ???

Nice ring. I would say 80% silver, it is a beaut.
