Scientology Patron Pin - Gold

While I was walking around town, I saw this item laying on the street next to the sidewalk.
It looked like a US penny, but gold colored, 19mm diameter.

It turned out to be a Scientology Patron lapel pin.

The front says:
"INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SCIENTOLOGISTS" / "PATRON"
The back has a flattened pin and "18KT"

I looked it up on the internet and apparently one gets the pin for donating money to the group.

Not something one finds every day.

Could have been tossed by a disgruntled "patron" of one of the cult meetings, or tossed for expensive advertisement, kinda like the WatchTower mags you find in public laundramats and urinals in the bad part of town which is cheap advertisement.

u using bathrooms in the bad part of town for the mags?... uh-um, I mean for the advertisements??

I don't know if this means anything but on Tuesday (Feb 5) I found a 1941 wheat penny near the same spot.

Knowing Scientology like I do...it's probably fools gold...hehe. Just kidding. It must be kinda old though, I don't think they give up too much 18k gold to their members anymore, it's more like the other way around, their members are giving them all their gold...don't get me started.
