This afternoon I started out hunting in the veggie garden. Found a round piece of iron about 10" deep. Other than that I wasn't having much luck at all. I decided to hunt on the north side of the house. Not far from a big pine tree I got a GOOD signal. It said a nickel so I thought it was probably a pull tab but dug just in case. Sure am glad I did. About 6 " down I found something round and gold looking. I couldn't believe my eyes! :o It is a horticulture judging pin. The claps on the back is still locked! Must have fell out of a pocket. I found three pennies and a dime in the same area then called it a day. Yes, I did the happy dance! :D
Feast your eyes on my first pin, and my pride, and joy. :)

That's great Pepper! :) Do you know what it's made of? What does it say on the pin?

Don's right. That is what it says on the pin. I don't know what it is made of. All I can tell you is it is golden. It is also heavy. I'm going to do a search and see what I can find out, if anything. Or maybe someone here knows. Thanks ya'll for looking.

The FFA stands for Future Farmers of America I am not sure on the time the organization started but i know it is still in existence. It is for kids interested in agriculture. I was introduced to it when i lived in Fl. but never joined. I am sure if u google it you'll find more answers. Good find HH

Nice finds! Close up pic, please1 ;D

FFA is still going strong here in the Willamette Valley. Both of my sons were in this, in high school.

Keep finding those goodies!!!

I've been posting my pictures so huge I was afraid folks might be getting tired of it so, I made this one little. This was 6" in the ground and I have lived here almost ten years so, I figure it is fairly old. I'm thinking it bronze.

Re: Horticulture Judging Pin!

I searched the FFA and it seems it started in 1928. So it could be that old. ;D

Nice finds, Pepper. You're finding some good stuff...just keep your eyes on the men folks so they don't trick you with some seeded relics. ;D

TKS, woody420. If it's 1928 it's the oldest think I've found yet other than the Loretta heart. ;)

Re: Horticulture Judging Pin!

Pepper,
Did you show a close up?

If so I couldn't find it.

Still,
a glorious find.
even my kids (30 +) would enjoy it . They participated in this program.
Try for a little closer.
Congrats,
Thom
