Had this feeling for a few days...My last ring was December 4 and before that I was averaging about one a week since June. I was doing the soccer field with nothing...last Saturday spent a drizzly hour at the beach CONVINCED that "my" ring was there. No ring..but I did find 3 zincs.
So today after lunch I was going to do the soccer field again but decided to cut across to some trees the soccer moms and dads rest at instead. Under the third tree...about 3" deep got another dime signal but just a tad higher, 76 instead of 74 (Fisher F4). When I got the plug out..there it was... a thin silver line. As I broke away the clod...a DIAMOND blinked back at me. WOOO HOOO...YES...my ring!
Inscribed is "Sterling" with a "U" that has an arrow through it. According to Google this is Uncas Manufacturing.
The diamond looks good...and in a silver mount a little too good, probably, to be a real diamond...BUT it sure looks GOOD!
Next time out I'm bringing my camera...that thin silver line in my plug is something I wish I could share.
