Great finds! The long skinny thing looks like the leg off of something. Maybe some type of childs doll furniture? Just my guess. Hope you find out!

Wow! Cool finds. I wish I could get up there where the CW stuff is! The long skinny thing looks like maybe a rod to clean out a gun barrel? Maybe it had more like it that screwed together end to end? Looks cool whatever it is. HH

The long skinney item "is" a mechanical pencil. I have found several parts and pieces of them at CW sites.the skinney thing with a hook is the bale fron an iron kettle. You have several harness buckles and a spoon handle. You most likely knew what the spoon handle was but this part of the utensil is found around CWsites quite often. Troops would cut this off so the spoon etc would fit in their mess kits which wouldn't hold a full length spoon or fork.

If I remember correctly the round buttons were usually associated with Zouave units.

Maybe but they are a common civilian find over here

They are a common civilian find over here too!  I've dug 25 or 30 at old homesites here in the past 8 weeks! We also find lots of pewter and brass spoon handles in old house sites--I've never dug a handle like that in a CW site, and I've hunted lots of them (not to say they aren't there--just that all of mine in 16 years have come from house sites).

EXCELLENT variety of buttons--I see pewter, tombac, and brass, many different backmarks and quality marks, plus that Ball Button.  Nice work!

I don't think you've got a CW site there--but rather an old house site.  If it was CW, you'd be finding minieballs rather than small fragments of assorted lead and musketballs only.  I see all that little lead, and I know that you'd have been digging minies if they were there.  That is the single most frequent keeper find at a CW site.  So I'm pretty sure that this isn't CW.  If you have found any military items there, then it is likely that you have a house site that a veteran occupied..

Thanks Les and Buckleboy.....You know I was wondering why I had not found that type of bullet...(obviously I am new to this)....since I am in Tennessee and just north of Murphreesboro and East of Nashville....which is obviously a CW hotbed....I just assumed CW after finding balls and backmarked buttons, buckles etc....also the first button that I discovered was an Eagle button as well. This is so exciting. I researched the mechanical pencil and it appears to have been manf. in Britain at the turn of the 19th century and referred to as a 'propelled pencil'...yes yes ...quite. I am excited to hit this site again with a new concept of what I am digging. We have about 1000 acres so I definitely have my work cut out for me. Thanks everyone!

Great relic's! The ball button look's like it may be off a Zouave uniform.

It could also be a very old civilian button. ;)

When you start digging CW lead, your conceptions of the site might again change. Good luck, and Happy Hunting!
