A few indians and a spot of silver....(always go back)

Well the weather here in the North East has be strange to say the least, a week ago we could not dig, the ground was frozen like concrete, but this strange warmth and all the rain allowed me to get out and feed my craving for this Hobie we all are addicted to.

I went to a spot that has been hammered by us and every other detector in the area, In the fall I went 6 or 7 times and I managed only 2 coins...yikes... but on my way home on Wednesday my car sorta just steered me back...after a short 1 1/2 hours I had managed one Indian, 1863 fattie......so
on Thursday I had 2 hours to kill in the middle of the day and guess where I went? yup right back there...in 2 hours I had pulled 2 Indians, 1859 and 1881 the 81 is sad but the 59 is nice for a fattie and the first year for the Indian...cool...so on Friday yea I did...I went back...pulled a sweet 1874 Indian and a pretty worn 1918 merc...and yes I went back on Saturday but Nada....I figure the freeze and thaw maybe moved them around, but I am glad I went back... That 1874 is pretty nice. I am only about 25 minutes south of you in Ottsville. I haven't made it out yet this year.

Dang at the finds, TnT! Maybe that's what I should wish for....FREEZING ground! I swear...there's absolutely nothing left at four of my favorite sites to hunt. :P Maybe if we had a good freeze!

Hey MM...I guess in a way I do grid, as most of you know we hunt mostly woods, I chose a small area about say 30 x 30 and then I pound it, very very slow and as you said many different directions. I move as much of the trees as I can manage, even the small 3 to 4" stuff. I would have to say I go over the same are 8 times or so and it is hard to believe the stuff that shows up...thanks again H.H. TnT

Awesome bunch of IH's. That 1874 is very sweet. I love finding the older IH's but they definately are a lot harder to find than the 1900's IH's.

Sometimes those places are a challenge to hunt - with so little targets you start to just dig iron to dig stuff.

Hey Bob..
You got that right hardly ever a good clean signal on the fatties....
We dig everything in these sites, by the time we are done you could walk around for 1/2 hour without a signal...BUT...That still doesent mean it dry....thanks again all

Nice injuns...always go back...a ground can never be too pounded. Rewards go to those who go after them. Anyhow. do you grid a area or just wing it...I mean swing freely?? Congrats on the fatties!!
