I met Ron and Richard for a full day of detecting downtown. We had a great time! Ron found three silver Roosevelt dimes! Here's what I found:

19 clad quarters
29 clad dime
5 nickels
113 memorial cents
8 wheat cents 29-S, 30-S, 36-S, 37, 41-S, 42-S, 46-S, 46-S
1979-D Kennedy half dollar
1976 L.T.D. bus token
Arcade token
1918-S Buffalo nickel
1935-S Silver Quarter
metal toy soldier

The 1935-S quarter & 1918-S Buffalo nickel were in the same hole. First I dug the silver quarter ~ I put back the plug and started walking toward Ron to show him. On the way to Ron I noticed a discolored "ring" on the back of the coin ~ you know, that ring left when there's another coin sitting next to the coin! So Ron & I went back to where I dug the quarter and Ron took a couple swings over the area with his Explorer SE ~ he says "I bet it's a Buffalo nickel" ~ I re-dug the plug and sure enough, there was a 1918-S Buffalo nickel! SWEET!!

I haven't been out detecting in a few weeks ~ crappy rainy weather and some snowy weather kept us cooped up inside! Today was perfect though!

Nice job, Neil. I love those multiple oldie holes. Your quarter looks great!!

What? No war nickels....you always seem to pull one of those out on your hunts. ;)

Good luck on your next hunt!!

Thanks Dan! YEAH ~ I was thinking the same thing ~ "What, no WAR nickels?" ~ I've dug six of them since Jan 1, 2008.

Very Nice, The snow and bad weather has forced folks in this neck of the woods inside, no matter how hardcore hunters we may be. You cool post has reminded me of the great finds that are to come once the ground thaws and the snow melts. Thanks J.
