Revisited a spot my buddy and I went to a few weeks ago. I guess we hit it pretty good because we only came up with a few clad that we had missed the last time. We left and as we were driving down the road we spotted an old ski trail or logging road,so we decided to stop. No idea how old this trail was but we decided to give it 15 minutes or so. Well, the explorer in me took me down the trail about a 1/4 mile to a low lying swamp and a trail intersection. I got a nice signal and began digging. About 4 inches down I though at first was a pulltab, then another look and it was a gold ring! It has someone's initials inside it and the wedding date! Not sure where to begin finding the owner, this may have been in the ground for 20 years or 5 years, who knows. The wedding date { year } is 1960. Sorry I haven't been able to post pics, my home pc is hosed right now.

Here comes my biochemistry. Today everything we eat from cereal to milk is fortified with vitamins and minerals, just look on the boxes. In olden times city kids did not get the 30 minutes a day in the sun necessary for body production of vitamin D, thus rickets occurred in a lot of these kids. Scientists discovered that a common mold alcohol derivative (ergosterol) could be subjected to uv light and vitamin D was produced as a byproduct. This was before all milk was fortified with iron and vitamin D. They began by adding it to other products and making a profit on it for the rich.
