CELTIC-ROMAN-MEDIEVAL-GEORGIAN-VICTORIAN-MODERN (& Day 34 - Big Grass Field)

This ones for you TK :-*

I had a weekend in Norfolk visiting a friend.
I only had 1 hour on saturday evening but it was enough to get me a hammered, not any hammered but a;
Henry II Short Cross
with septre Class 1a-c
1180-1189 PIERES.ON.LVND
HENRICVS.REX London Mint

This is the first in the short cross series & is my first Henry II. ;D

Sunday I did 4 hours & got;
Nice Roman plate brooch (new type for me) :)
Broken roman brooch
Medieval Strapends
Another hammered (poor condition Ed I)
A very nice but broken buckle 1250-1350 (unpublished variant with anusual gilt decor)
A couple of Georgian coppers
Victorian halfpenny
£4 (Spendable ~$8)

Star find a Silver Unit of Boudicca's tribe (ICENI) cica 70AD. (this is only my 3rd ever Celtic Silver)

I would say a successful 5 hours hunting :icon_sunny: Funny thing is I went to look for Saxon & got everything but...

(Last picture)
Meanwhile Cru'Dad spent 2 hours on the Big Grass Field & got a button & bullet ::) However we will need to finish this field soon as the grass is growing high.

Lastly on the way back I spotted a completely W H I T E Stag (Red Deer). Strange as the last one was reported shot in Oct 07. :icon_scratch:

Thanks for the comments. The area I went to makes ALL my fields look a waste of time. I meet a Pro detectorist who's stories you would find hard to believe. :tongue3:

Fantastic finds there Crusader - are you tempted to detect where you saw the White Stag - maybe the guardian to the Otherworld was trying to tell you something.

I was tempted to detect everywhere in that area. But it was a great end to a successful day.

Thanks, and the Celtic are ultra-rare. My friend taking me to his sites see's very few.

We had 34 hammered last year in total.
Now we already have 12, so I want to make 50 in 2008, I hope 8)

Finds will be thin again until Aug (Harvest time). But I already know it will be a bumper harvest so keep watching :thumbsup:
