O.K. Folks, I hope you weren't expecting to see a gold coin from my. ;D If it were, I'd still be out in the field cleaning my shorts. :o
What we have here is a $5.00 Eagle button I dug up at lunch in the pasture. Why $5.00 you ask?
Nick P. and I started a bet just after Easter on who would find the first Eagle button and LC.
We agreed to pay the winner $5.00 for an Eagle button and $10 for an LC.
Well, I'm half way there Baby!!!
I am almost done gridding the pasture. I'm in a very trashy area close to the house now, and digging up pull tabs, chunks of foil, nails, large iron, etc.
Honestly, I almost said "forget it" and about gave up on this last section. I had a good signal, dug a plug, and found an iron spike. Before I covered the hole I scanned it again. BINGO, there was another good signal in a clump of dirt. I saw a large round object, then a shank. Thank God it wasn't just another flat button. I saw part of the Eagle & knew exactly what I had.
There is still about a 30' x 30' section I need to finish up, then I will be on to another area of the plantation property.
This eagle button is very large. It is 29mm with a "City Button Works - New York" backmark.
I'm not sure how old this would be? Any idea?Again, "Yeah Baby!!!!" ;D

Nick- I'm PM you my address. I'll accept $5.00 in large bills or some of Mama's cookies. Either way it's good dough. :tongue3:

Now where are those darn LC's? :icon_scratch: :icon_scratch: :icon_scratch:

The bet was Civil War Era...Remember or is your grey matter thinking of what dress you'll wear this evening...LOL ;D
The game is STILL on...
Nick
PS - Great find... :-* :-* :-*

Dude,
Are you kidding me? It's an Eagle button. Is that an Eagle? Is that a button? You must be thinking of Tupperware with that "great seal" bit?
You better send me a picture of what I need to find, because I thought I had it.
Does the LC have to be CW too? Geez.
And I waded through wet horse doo for this.
You're killing me here!

Nick is right, Doug. It's not Civil War era. That's a great seal button....probably WWII era. I've got a collection of those myself.

Nice find though, my friend!!

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. ;D  I had forgot about the fine print Nick put in the contract about the Eagle button having to be "CW era". :'(
That sneaky dog.
He'll do anything to keep those cookies. ;D

O.K. Nick,
You are correct Sir. You get to keep the $5.00 FOR NOW, but don't put it back in the vault just yet.

Dang, I thought I had you.

Seriously though Guys, thanks for the ID. I learned something new here again today. (that I have more wet doo to wade through) ;D

I've found two of them myself. Still cool to find a 60 or so year old button!

Good job. I predict within the next week you will find either your LC or your Eagle Button........
