My First Class Ring.....Can't wait to return it!!!!

The temp's here in the East have been unbelievable,99 degree's today...heat index of 108.Since my basement has flooded I haven't been out much,most of my good field's have corn or something else on them....but that will pass like every year.I opted for the H.S. tonight and it payed off,in between the soccer field's I started digging up everything that came in the "pull tab" range and on my fifth dig this pop's out from just around 3"....My job was done and the heat sucked....finished!!!If anyone could tell me the "quickest" way to find the owner,it would be well appreciated.First Gold for 08'....HH!!

Just get ahold of the school(if still in existence). They should be able to locate a name for ya. Then it's off to the phone book! Goodluck with the noble return of the ring. I am sure they will appreciate it. Give the local Police Dept. a call and they have a huge database with names and current addresses too. jgas

Thank's jG....I was raised in this county about 50 mile's across the state line,the school's are still playing each other to this day.I'll give them a call tommorrow.

Great find! You can also go to Zabasearch.com & do a free search once you know the name of the person. You can search a whole state & this might be helpful if the owner moved away. Congrats!

1968 = They probably shipped that poor bast**ds butt off to Vietnam right after graduation. I hope he is still around to enjoy you giving it back to him. Lets hope for him being around and you finding him.

Found my first class ring some years ago. Identified the owner of the ring. It was just before christmas, and I gave it to his mother wraped with a ribbon on the box, and ask her to put it under the Christmas tree for him. It means something when you can return something that has been lost.

The ring was from 1983 Daydream....the School was established in 68'....I Love your train of thought though

Exactly! Returning it is way more fun than just another stupid ring sitting around.

The great thing about it is getting an answer. I hunt older sites and every decent find i have ever made I always wondered what the story was behind it, how it was lost, by whom. Class rings are one of the few things we actually can get those questions answered. Well worth returning!

Civilman...as rtde3 stated, you may have better luck with the alumni association...the school may be reluctant due to privacy laws etc to release any names or info. If you can find a website for the school and/or alumni association e-mail them and tell them that you found the ring and want to return it and the give them the initials on it if there are any, and if not then ask them if any lot rings have been reported lost for that year. The school themselves may help but if you sense reluctance on their part to give you any info contact the alumni.
Great find and super job on trying to make the return. I have been fortunate enough to find and return several rings and its a GREAT feeling to see and hear the joy of their getting a lost ring back that they thought they;d never see again. Congrats on the find and applause for the return effort. Keep us updated on how you make out....
