Found A Sweet Button...

Hello Friends!

I went back to the old church where I found the 1724 George I halfpence, and this time dug this really nice gilt coat button. I would love some info on it -- it's gilded brass/copper, and is a little bigger than a quarter. The backmark reads: "Firmin & Sons, 153 Strand, London," which according to my sources dates the button in the mid-1800s, but no later than 1875.

Has anyone seen this coat of arms before?

Thanks. No, that's not original thread -- it's cotton fibers from the Q-tip I used to clean it....

Thanks Crusader. I'm thinking the soil in this particular place has something to do with it -- it's very soft earth and super easy to dig. A pleasure, really.
