Got my dfx last month and have been reading the forums and foster's book ever since. I have found a little clad and a few silvers along the way. The other day I was detecting in the middle of the field behind my house and I found5 coins in it. They were a 1927 standing liberty, 1902 barber dime, 1948 jefferson nickel, and 2 wheaties 1940 and 1945. Has anyone else found more than one coin in a hole? They were all in diferent locations in the hole and at different depths 3 to 7 inches. Well HH all and good luck.

Welcome Merlin, Great start and nice finds. I have found multiple coins in the same hole but the have all been the same depth. Finding them all mixed up like that is kind of weird, but a nice weird.

Merlin,

Nice work! To answer your question, yep, I've many times found more than one coin in a hole. One of my favorite places is next to old basketball courts. Kids seem to dump out their pockets before they play and when they go back to retrieve the money, some of it inevitably gets left behind. Best more-than-one-in-a-hole story came from such a place. My ex and I were out detecting (she was swingin' and I was diggin') and we pulled 38 wheat pennies from one hole next to an old court.

Again...you made super finds!

HH,

Batch

One of my goals is to find as one of every type of coin. I know I will never accomplish it but you may a good start here.
